Australian Olympic Committee

Behind the scenes of the Olympics are hundreds of email communications and several dozen events. As the primary point of contact for the London and Rio Olympics, I assisted the AOC in converting creatives into usable templates, building and publishing email campaigns, setting up complex event registration processes and handling and analysing event registrant data. Olympic-related events run years in advance (including AGMs and special VIP functions for high-profile individuals), and finish with ‘Welcome Home’ events.

Network Status Updates Campaign

Public Transport Victoria

Taking inspiration from the London transit network, PTV saw an opportunity to offer a weekly email campaign alerting riders to upcoming network changes and disruptions. Data strategy was required to target and allow contacts to select specific transit modes and networks that they wished to receive updates on. Special attention to accessibility and research on colour use were also integral parts of the campaign planning process.

Annual awards conference


SEEK host an annual awards show called the SARAs to recognise achievement among recruitment companies. An online registration process was required whereby sponsors and nominated employers/employees could register their intention to attend the SARAs. The registration process required data to be passed from a database, to an email invitation, to a registration form and finally into a registrant database. Conditional fields and dynamic data would trigger certain elements on the registration form (for example, the number of guests an individual was able to register as well). The end result significantly reduced manual work for SEEK.

Machine registration system

WorkSafe Victoria

After nurturing a relationship with WorkSafe Victoria, I was asked to scope, propose, build and launch a bespoke system for all heavy machinery in Victoria to be registered and renewed online. The new online registration and modification system would digitise what was a laborious paper registration process. In addition to project planning and management, I was also required to contract manage this project–it was my responsibility to stay within the contract confines and manage any change requests.

Website development and maintenance


The NSW Information and Privacy Commissioner moved their website to an environment hosted and maintained by us. New content features or website layout requests were submitted to me, then quoted, built and launched for the client to later use in managing their content. This project provided a great opportunity to learn the Drupal CMS.

VIP events


Qantas were looking for a registration platform to run their VIP events. After two sales demonstrations with stakeholders, I began the onboarding and system build process. Working with the client’s internal design team we finalised design creatives and completed the template build process for invitation, reminder, registration form and confirmation templates. On occasion, we would work with the client’s external agencies and publish invitations on behalf of the client.

Online booking for retirement seminars

Cbus Super

I worked with Cbus Super to digitise the advertising and registration process of their member retirement seminars. Moving from direct mail invitations and Excel-managed registration lists to a complete online solution was an exciting prospect for Cbus. In addition to email invitations and online registration forms, Cbus also required a custom event calendar that could be embedded into their website.

Multi-purpose newsletter template


Wishing to combine several email campaign templates into one, QBE were looking for a single master newsletter template with a strong brand identity. Working closely with a graphic designer we created a newsletter design concept that incorporated QBE’s brand colours and design elements.

Take on Tomorrow national roadshow


While heading up a national VIP roadshow for Westpac, I was responsible for coordinating development between the client, our design and programming teams and two external agencies that were managing the event website and registrant data. The roadshow required a campaign plan for each location, including: invitations, confirmations, post-event communications and a follow up feedback survey. Timely delivery of event communications was imperative, and required proactive testing to ensure data accuracy.

One-on-one appointment registration system


After identifying the need for an appointment booking system, we pitched a custom solution to Mercer to adjust their existing event registration process. Being proactive with wireframing and prototyping was extremely beneficial in gaining stakeholder approval to develop the one-on-one appointment booking system. Additional scoping and custom programming work was required to allow registrants the ability to cancel or modify an existing booking. Upon final release, client training and system documentation was also provided.

Rollout and notification campaigns

Service NSW

Service NSW is a NSW government initiative to deliver one-stop government services for customers. The state-wide program was rolled out, by location, in multiple stages. Each stage required email campaigns to be issued in coordination with Service NSW’s internal data team and other external agencies. At the conclusion of each location’s campaign, a report would be drafted and delivered to the client based on recipient engagement and other statistics. In all, communications were issued to hundreds-of-thousands of contacts across more than 50 locations.

Online payments for custom event system


CGU required a bespoke registration process with multi-pricing capabilities and a member identification check function to activate reduced pricing during the registration process. Overseeing and coordinating this project was a monumental task involving: onboarding, data strategy, design advice, programming, a custom event calendar (for embedding into their website) and client training and documentation.

Design of event templates


CBRE required design advice and event consultation for their Market Outlook event series in Sydney and Melbourne. Using their brand guidelines we created design concepts, going for a ‘fresh, bold and professional’ appeal. Due to the nature of the events, the client desired a modern look that would immediately capture the attention of their contacts.

Subscription preference centre

Bureau of Meteorology

Upon beginning as an account manager, the Bureau of Meteorology was one of my first clients. Through the years, they would also become one of my most active clients, requiring dozens of email campaigns and running numerous events and conferences. Due to the nature of their comms plan, a subscription preference centre was needed to allow subscribers to set their location and opt into specific campaigns.
